The Field of Psychology with Michael A. Civin, Ph.D.

Dr. Michael A. Civin has never failed to pursue an education in psychology in his nearly 30 years in the profession. To that end, the academic world has occupied a lot of his time. At various times, throughout his career, he has served as a full professor, an associate professor, or even as a faculty member in many institutions of higher learning. Many of his scholarly articles have been published in medical journals and as chapters in very important books on psychology.
You see, early on, Dr. Michael A Civin knew that education was a key to getting where he wanted to go. His educational journey started when he earned an A.B. cum laude from Harvard in 1968 and then went to Albert Einstein College of Medicine from 1968-1969. In 1970, Michael A. Civin earned his first Masters of Arts from the University of Oregon, and he earned another M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the Gordon F. Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University. He officially earned the right to be called Michael A. Civin, Ph.D. in 1988 when he earned his medical degree from the same institution, which subsequently awarded him a Postdoctoral Certificate in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy in 1993.
Currently, Dr. Michael Civin, who now has nearly 30 years’ experience as a doctor under his belt, is a senior psychologist at Rose Hill Psychological Services in the Bronx, in New York City. He helped co-found Rose Hill in 2008. While he primarily works out of Rose Hill, he also works in private practice in Manhattan, Astoria, and Bayville, something he has done since 2007. In this private practice, Michael Civin, Ph.D. works primarily in the field of psychodiagnostics, a branch of psychology that evaluates personality and human behavior through the use of tests.
