By balancing patient care with academic involvement and published scholarship, he has established a career that extends well beyond the traditional responsibilities of a practicing psychologist.
Dr. Civin currently serves as a senior psychologist at Rose Hill Psychological Services, an award-winning, community-based mental health center located in the Bronx, New York City. As a co-founder of the organization in 2008, he has helped create an environment focused on delivering high-quality psychotherapy and psychological services. In addition to his work at Rose Hill, he has maintained a private practice since 2007, providing care to individuals in Manhattan, Astoria, and Bayville. His professional specialties include psychodiagnostics, adult psychology, adolescent psychology, group psychology, and clinical supervision.
His professional accomplishments are supported by an outstanding educational background. Dr. Civin earned his A.B. degree with cum laude honors from Harvard College in 1968 before attending Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He later completed a Master of Arts degree at the University of Oregon and a second M.A. in Clinical Psychology at the Gordon F. Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University. In 1988, he earned his Ph.D. from Adelphi University and further expanded his expertise by obtaining a Postdoctoral Certificate in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy in 1993.
Beyond his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Civin has made lasting contributions to psychology through education and research. Throughout his career, he has served as a full professor, associate professor, and faculty member at several institutions of higher learning.
